A Skeptical African Child post.

You drive to the gym and park as close to the door as you can, to save walking. Inside, you walk on a treadmill for thirty minutes, facing a wall. Then you drive home. On Saturday you buy soil in a bag and put it on top of the soil you already have. Then you water grass that nobody eats, mow it, and pay a man to take it away. You pay £1.50 for a bottle of spring water from the hills twenty miles away. The tap in your kitchen is fed from the same hills. You keep the bottle in the fridge, next to the jug of tap water, out of loyalty. You pay for five streaming services so you can spend forty minutes scrolling through all five, then watch the comedy you've already seen nine times. Then you say there's nothing on. **Why it caught on:** a young boy in Uganda squinting sideways with obvious suspicion was posted to Reddit in June 2012, and the joke is meant to land on the asker: put plainly, a lot of comfortable modern life sounds absurd. It has also been fairly criticised for using a real child's photo, which is worth keeping in mind.
