A Bipolar Owl post.
On Monday you can't face opening the post. By Wednesday you've ordered a sewing machine, a ukulele and a book on beekeeping, all at 2 in the morning. On Friday you can't face opening the parcels. You leave a friend's message on read for nine days. Then you reply with eleven paragraphs, three voice notes and a plan for the two of you to move to Lisbon next week. She replies "are you ok?" Fair. The washing up has been there since Sunday. Then, at 3 on Thursday morning, you clean the whole flat, alphabetise the spices and regrout the bath. The washing up is still there. It's personal now. The doctor asks how your mood has been, on a scale of one to ten. You ask which day. She asks for an average. You explain that the average of one and ten is not, in any real sense, five. **Why it caught on:** a barn owl's face that sits exactly between calm and alarm became a page where people with bipolar disorder describe the swings from the inside. Nobody is being mocked: it's people finding out that someone else has had the very same week.
