You look up from the screen and realise it's 3 in the morning, and your own bars are in much the same state. **Why it caught on:** the green Plumbob above every character in Maxis' The Sims glows calmly while its tiny people fail at being people, and anyone who has played has watched one die of something stupid, sometimes on purpose.
